The Bala Lake Railway Society is currently raising funds via it's "Presidents Appeal" to fund the purchase of signalling equipment which will be needed to upgrade our existing operation when the extension to Bala Town opens.
To raise the profile of the appeal, on the evening of Sunday 20th July, a group of four intrepid volunteers, Society Chairman Tim Williams, Joe Steven's, Peter Newhouse and Dave Rutt will be taking a hand-propelled pump trolley all the way from Llanuwchllyn to Bala and back again, a total distance of 9 miles, with a 1/2 mile at 1 in 70 close to the end of the return run.
This will be no mean feat if the team achieves their goal, since the trolley has not previously travelled beyond Pant-yr-hen-felin, about two thirds of the way along the line and it rarely leaves the yard. If you want to encourage this intrepid band to make it all the way to the end and back again, please make a donation to the Presidents appeal https://tinyurl.com/blrs-pres-50 .
The Pump Trolley will depart Llanuwchllyn shortly after the final service train of the day has arrived, at around 4.20pm. Feel free to come along and support us in person.
