The engine shed is our main engineering facility, all of our loco repairs and much of our rolling stock maintenance work is undertaken here. We also keep the locos that are in active service in the shed (some engines are also kept on display in the heritage centre).
It is possible to visit the engine shed, but please ask a staff member or volunteer before entering the building. Please be aware that this is a working environment and there may be hot surfaces, wet paint and a lot of general grime from our locomotives inside.
Beyond the engine shed, you will find the yard area, where some items of stock are kept and the Carriage shed, which is used to store our more valuable items of rolling stock and some locomotives when they aren't being used for services. The far end of the carriage shed also houses our Heritage centre.
