4th April 2020
The Bala Lake Railway, like other organisations and businesses, are monitoring the evolving situation and following the Government’s guidelines on the Coronavirus outbreak.
The health and safety of our customers, staff and volunteers are paramount to us, and in light of the advice given by the UK Government on Monday 16th March, asking the public to avoid unnecessary travel and to minimise social contact we have taken the difficult decision to close the railway until at least Good Friday 10th April.
We will continue to monitor the situation based on current advice from government and health authorities – and will issue an update if the current situation changes.
“Race the train” with a twist!
Stand-Up Paddleboarders and boats race the train along the length of the lake. Travel on the train to follow the race and watch the event.
The race is over 4 miles along Llyn Tegid / Bala Lake finishing at the Bala end.
You can follow the race from the train which departs Llanuwchllyn at 5:00 prompt.
We are offering reduced rate tickets (Adult £4 each way, Children £2 each way) and the train will bring you back to Llanuwchllyn.
The special train departs Llanuwchllyn 5:00pm, the regular passenger services run according to the Orange timetable, shown below.
