Avonside works No 1909 was built in 1922 for the Farleigh Sugar Mill near Mackay in Queensland Australia and was dispatched with her sister engine No. 1910 in March 1922. In total four such engines were sent to Australia, but only No 1909 has survived into preservation.
No 1909 was repatriated from Australia in October 2020 and has now been dismantled for overhaul by her new owner. Many of her parts have now been taken off site for repair and re-work.
