Important Information if you are visiting us on the 29th or 30th June 2019

The Big Bala Bash and the Bala Triathlon will be taking place over the weekend of the 29th and 30th June. This involves the closure of the A494, the main road between Bala and Llanuwchllyn in the Bala area for periods on both days.

From 2pm to 7pm on Saturday 29th June

The A494 will be closed between Bala and Llanuwchllyn.

We advise visitors coming from the east / England / North Wales coast to use Bala station, and those coming from the west / south west / Cambrian Coast to use Llanuwchllyn station as the A494 will be open between Dolgellau and Llanuwchllyn.

Visitors from the north west / Porthmadog / Lleyn peninsula have the choice of using Bala station via the A4212 from Trawsfynydd, or heading down the A470 to Dolgellau, then A494 to Llanuwchllyn station.

From 8am to 1pm on Sunday 30th June

The A494 will be closed from Bala to Rhydymain, effectively cutting off Llanuwchllyn in both directions.
We advise visitors coming from the east / England / North Wales coast to use Bala station.

Visitors from the north west / Porthmadog / Lleyn peninsula are also advised to use Bala station via the A4212 from Trawsfynydd.

Visitors coming from the west / south west / Cambrian Coast will be faced with a detour north along the A470 to Trawsfynydd and then along the A4212 to Bala to use Bala station.

According to the official information on the Welsh Triathlon website (https://www.welshtriathlon.org/wales/documents/events/bala/bilingual-bala-road-closure-notice.pdf) access will be available to Emergency Vehicles and Public Transport, and measures will be in place to minimise disruption to local residents and businesses. The alternative for visitors from the west on Sunday would be to take the T3 bus from Dolgellau to Llanuwchllyn (http://www.trawscymru.info/t3/), this service is free to all users at the weekends, or to request access to Llanuwchllyn station from one of the stewards manning the checkpoints.

We apologise to all our customers for any inconvenience these arrangements may cause.
